Flora Expo

     The 2010 Taipei National Flora Expo is first International Horticultural Exposition that Taiwan is holding with official authorization acquired from the (AIPH).

      Taipei is the first city where the Flora Expos is held at downtown area. Besides, it combined art, culture, Environmental protection and technology.

   
      There are four places which are expected to hold the Flora Exposition.

   
      The expo venue is located around Yuanshan Park, Taipei Art Park, Xinsheng Park, and Dajia Riverside Park in Taipei City. The total number of exhibition halls mounts to 14 halls.

   
      There has a special style building which is designed a butterfly masterpiece.

The whole building structure uses recycle iron for carbon reduction. It’s a non-air-condition, semi-open space which is an unprecedented building.

The embezzlement of Entrance Examination of Technological and Vocational Education

    
     The Kaohsiung District Prosecutors Office investigated had finished a case of fraud.  Li Qing-Yun, the person who is in charge of Taichung Pei-I Cram School, Dong Shang-De, the engineer of Entrance Examination Center and fore examinees’ parents were accused as suspicion of offense. 

     The forty examinees were investigated or transferred to the juvenile court. Prosecutor Xie Zhao-Jing indicated Li Qing-Yun and Dong Shang-De own up their crime, but their conduct hazard the fairness of the Entrance Examination seriously, suggested judge to sentence them severely.  

     According to the indictment, defendant Li Qing-Yun, forty-five years old,  was suspected for bribed Dong Shang-De, forty-five years old, with an eye to alter the examinees’ answer card and let the examinees admitted to an ideal school because he want to increase his cram school‘s reputation and to improve its’ performance.   

     In 2007, during the time of Uniform Entrance Examination, Li asked two examinees, Wang and Cai, took examination in Taipei and gave their ticket number to Dong.  After the day examination finished, Dong wore rubber gloves and bring the key of work room which was copied.  Then took out the answer car and altered it before putted it back. Dong got twenty to fifty thousands dollar as reward.  The two examinees’ got 694 points and it was the highest score in 2007.    

     During 2007 to 2008, Li told twenty-nine examinees that if they don’t know the answer of the questions, paint full the square of answer card then Dong alter the answer card as right answer.  Li promised to help Dong settled his fore million debts and gave him quarter million as reward. In 2007, one of the examinee is the First of the Entrance Examination.  In 2010, Li and Dong helped thirteen examinees plagiarize, six of them were the First of each subjects.

     Prosecutor indicated that Dong Shang-De got six hundred thousands remuneration from Li Qing-Yun and two examinees’ parents.   Many of the examinees admitted to National Taipei University of Science Technology, National Taipei University of Technology and many of other University.  The Ministry of Education had extorted the examinees’ information as punishment.

3 arrested for allegedly tattooing man's back

     A total of three young suspects were arrested on Thursday in Taipei for allegedly tattooing foul language on a 19-year-old man's back. The 20-year-old main suspect, surnamed Liu, was a senior classmate of the victim, surnamed Lee, during Lee's junior high school days. Lee had been the target of physical and verbal abuse from Liu for years. The two met again after four years at the Beitou area in Taipei City last month when Liu recognized Lee on the streets. Liu forced Lee to get into his car and took the victim to his home in Danshui, Taipei County where two other suspects were already there. Together, the suspects used an electric tattoo pen to tattoo expletives together with an image of a middle finger on Lee's back by force.

     The three continued to bully Lee and imprisoned him for two days until he was finally released. Lee was too ashamed to tell anyone about the tattoos after his release and the police did not learn about the case until one of Lee's friends told a police officer in the Beitou Police District that Lee needed some help. Police later found Liu and the two other suspects, and they all admitted that they had tattooed words on Lee's back. However, they refuted the accusation that they had imprisoned Lee.

     It was done out of “fun” and all they wanted was to practice their tattoo technique on the victim's back. Lee was quoted in the report as saying that he only agreed to have them tattoo on his arms but they forced him to have expletives tattooed on his back as well. He was angry and nervous when he found these tattoos could not be washed away. He was also afraid that Liu and the other suspects might hurt him if he told anyone about the tattoos, so he kept quiet for more than half month.

     The report said a plastic surgeon had already expressed willingness to help remove the tattoos on Lee's back for free, which usually costs around NT$ 300,000.

Chilean miners rescue race “miracle”

     The Chile mineral disaster was occurred on Aguest 5 from the San Jose Mine near Copiapo, Chile.  The Chilean government looked for these survivors. After this disaster happened 17 days, they found that 33 miners were trapped underground. Thrity-three miners writed “All of miners are very well on shelter” on a small paper. This information was began to resuce 33 miners task.

     The task was expected that the Chilean government will rescue them until December 25.  At 10:10 on Ocotober 13, they resuced the first miner. Originally, they spent an hour to resuce one person.  Until night, they finally spent 40 minutes but ultimately spent 20 minutes.  It was very successfully that they resuced them to just spend 10 weeks overground.  And finally all of miners was resuced on October 14.

 

     When they were trapped underground, they got these foods and drinking water rely on a narrow tube.  Under the ground, they had a regular schedule.  In the morning, they did some activities such as play cards, listen music & basketball live show and sing the Nationalhymne to increase their morale and slept on time at 10 o’clock p.m.  In order to enter the phoenix cabin, they kept their strength.  Finally they had be successful because of their family.


      It’s the longest days underground by 33 miners.

      “I hand the shift over to you and hope this never happens again,” the last miner out, Luis Urzua, 54, told Pinera.  Luis Urzus was the best leader during the Chile mineral disaster.  He distributed the limited of food to survive 17 days until the resuce workers contacted with them.

   

      The miracle included three-quarters of techniques and one-quarter of wonder.  These techniques such as “drill the shaft” made in America, “crane” made in China, “optical network equipment and webcam” made in Taiwan (MIT) and more.  Many nations was provided all of the best techniques in the world.

     When they resuced the seventh miner, the president of Chile, Piniella said “The rescue task is proud of our nation.  I am very excited.”  And he announced that they will build the Monument to the Chile mineral disaster.  It was display a hope for our children and grandchildrean.  The president of Chile, Pinera never gave up untill they resuced all of miners.
